The Bible is one of the most influential books in human history, revered as sacred in the Judeo-Christian tradition. Il-Bibbja is the Maltese translation of the original texts written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. The 2025 reprint of the fifth edition is especially significant as it marks the first publication by the Malta Bible Foundation (Fondazzjoni Biblika Maltija). Established in 2021 by mandate of the Bishops of Malta, the Foundation continues the valuable work begun by the Malta Bible Society (Għaqda Biblika Maltija), which had been active since 1958. The Society published the first edition of Il-Bibbja in 1984, a milestone in Maltese religious and linguistic history.
